Biography
I was born in New Zealand and grew up in a little suburb of Auckland called Massey. My mum is Swiss and my dad is part Maori, part Scottish (Mc Kay) and part English. I moved to Switzerland at the age of 10 and, after high school (where I had to learn German), I attended the Grafische Fachschule Aarau, School of Art in the Province of Aarau.
It was always my goal to pursue my creativity but I had to be patient; only one year after starting my apprenticeship as an interior decorator, I won the title of Miss Switzerland 2000. From that day on my life changed dramatically.
After my reign as Miss Switzerland, I focussed on my greatest passion - music - and started working as a DJ, bringing out a “chill-out” compilation CD with selected tracks from different artists called "Moana”. My third CD contained three of my own tracks and four new tracks of mine have since featured on international chill-out compilations, two of them even making it onto the legendary Café Del Mar Sampler (Vol.12 & Vol.14).
Now, years later, I can proudly say I am one of Switzerland’s most popular DJs; every weekend I play in different clubs, bars, lounges or events sharing my wide interest in music to many partygoers.
I still model and work as a spokesperson for big brands. For example this year I’m promoting the new women’s beer “Eve” from Cardinal. And who knows, maybe I’ll be asked to design another car like I did in 2005 for Ford – the Fiesta-Mahara Edition, named after me.
